Cathi Rae’s new collection, to be published by Rotten Poetry, takes a very different approach, not only to her previous collection but to anything else you’ve read recently (or ever). Taken from extensive conversations with 65 individuals over a three year period they are a collaborative exploration of other people’s lives. Telling the stories of people through loss, grief, pain, difficulties and survival and reinvention challenging the invisibility of ordinary people in the creative arts.

The new collection from Cathi Rae, Make My Poem Rapid and other poems of other people’s lives, is innovative and exciting new work built from 3 years of work collaborating with 65 individuals to tell their stories. Cathi Rae’s long conversations over weeks or months formed the material for each poem and the subjects were central to the process of creation.

Make My Poem Rapid is a challenge to the invisibility of ordinary people in the creative arts, working with people through difficulties; tragedy and loss, challenging life experiences, redemption and survival. People’s lived experience are expressed and explored showing what has shaped them.

The incredible Cathi Rae is an award winning poet and spoken word artist, her first collection “Your Cleaner Hates You and other poems” showcased a wry humour and sharp eye, Cathi has also carved out a space online as body positivity and slow fashion advocate.
